End of an Era Review by Lonnie

Concert

This is really the greatest thing on the DVD. I think the cuts are often a bit to quick and showing these crying girls all the time in the front row is extremely annoying as well. I just hope they die in embarrasment. I am sorry but this was just ridiculous. The most touching moment for me is the beginning of Ever Dream. First of all this one of my fave songs and Tuomas seems to bit close to crying after the intro. That has already touched me extremely when I have seen it during the press screening in April.

I think the sound is great too but I am not that experienced in that I have to admit. I want to try it on our dolby sourround system here as well. I am excited to hear that.

Although I have already heard that many don't like it but I like the effects they have added to the concert. There were already lots of effects on the screens on the back of the stage but they put some more in on the DVD.

So all in all it's worth looking and I think for those who have been there it's great to have that concert at home. You really feel it's somehow a special concert.

Documentary

First I want to say that I write MY opinion about that. If you don't like what I write now then this is your problem. If you have seen it and think differently about it, it's your right but leave me my opinion as well.

I do not really like the documentary. It is actually pretty boring and just sentimental gibberish. I mean we all know that Tuomas has had to bear a lot of things and the letter was probably already in his mind all the time but that documentary to me is just a "Oh the poor Tuomas" show. Showing him all the time how will very likely break down any second because he cannot bear the sadness, disappointment and whatever anymore does take out any honesty. It's a very one sided documentary actually. I don't know what had to be cut because of Tarja and Marcelo and how it influences the entire documentary but actually I only take out of it "Tuomas was depressed" - don't know. Probably the Tarja forum will take this again to put as much dirt and hate attacks on Tuomas as they can but this time I could almost understand it - because of the way he is presented in there. And if he isn't sad in first place he is great in having his "Fuck off" expression on his face.

There is only one scene where you can see him relaxed. Reading a bloody Donald Duck book. Yet this alone is extremely sad. You could really think Tuomas has no other joy in his life than reading Donald Duck and I refuse to believe that.

Again this is just my opinion and I am fully aware of the fact that the documentary is from short before the split and I believe that was hard for Tuomas and the band itself - nevertheless too senitmental, too narrow.

Photogallery

Well there are mostly pics in from the concert. Nice to look at.

I have the ltd. Digi Pack edition. In there was also a reprint of the Hartwell Areena Tickets. They seem to be numbered. Mine is the 28820 and would it have been real I would have had a seating place, haha. And there is an inlay with pictures from the show.
